CEE acquires 11.7 megawatt wind farm in Sachsen-Anhalt
Hamburg, 07 September 2015 – The Hamburg equity investment company CEE continues to expand its wind power portfolio and has now acquired wind farm Sylda II in Sachsen-Anhalt, which is currently under construction. The vendor is the Hannover project developer Windwärts Energie GmbH, which will also be responsible for the construction stage as general contractor. Four Enercon E-92 wind turbines with a hub height of 104 metres and one Enercon E-70 wind turbine with a hub height of 98 metres are planned. With a rated capacity of 11.7 megawatts (MW), the five turbines will generate about 25.9 million kilowatt hours of environmentally friendly electricity and supply about 8,400 households with power after commissioning. Sylda II is due to be completely connected to the grid in Q4 2015. CEE Operations, which manages the CEE Group’s power plant portfolio, is responsible for the commercial side. Windwärts will be responsible for technical operations. CEE and Windwärts have jointly implemented four wind farm projects since 2011.
Björn Wenzlaff, CEO of Windwärts Energie, says: “Land-based wind energy promotes the transition to renewables and offers economic opportunities. As a company in the MVV Energie Group, Windwärts is responsible for ensuring professional and reliable project implementation. With the sale of the Sylda II wind farm to CEE, we are continuing the successful, long-standing collaboration and further expanding the operations segment.
Detlef Schreiber, CEE’s CEO, says: “By acquiring Sylda II, CEE has managed to implement its growth strategy in wind in Germany in addition to its current focus on France. In the future, we want to grow in our core market and value reliable partners than assist us in doing so.
Following the acquisition of Sylda II, CEE’s wind power portfolio has grown to about 194 MW. In 2015, CEE’s energy parks will probably generate about 675,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity from renewable sources.
